Putting the Soul
back in Psychology!
Objection: "Schizophrenia is the one, genetically biologically caused Psychological Disorder."
Objector: "I can agree that the emotional Psychological Disorders such as Depression and Anxiety are primarily caused by the person's soul. However, I still believe that Schizophrenia is genetically biologically caused. The following analogy will explain my position. In order for an author to write a story, he needs appropriate material instruments to assist him, such as a computer word processor for example. The author, who is the primary cause and the material instruments called secondary causes are both necessary but insufficient causes by themselves to produce the final result, such as a novel for others to read. Let's propose that the author has a broken computer word processor that occasionally reorganizes his words and sentences such that the story line becomes disorganized and impossible to read in a coherent fashion. Similarly, it is possible that genetic abnormalities in the brain physiology could adversely affect how different brain pathways connect to each other. Such affected individuals would think and feel in a disorganized fashion, resembling schizophrenia."
[Note: The term "irrational" will be used in the modern English psychological use of the word; not as Dr. St. Thomas Aquinas used it in his "Summa".]
I answer that: The reason that no human being, regardless of genetics, brain functioning, or environment factors, etc. can have their brain either primarily cause, or "reorganize" thoughts, etc. and feelings to "think and feel in a disorganized fashion", is because "to think and feel in a disorganized fashion" are irrational abstract intellectual acts. And abstract thinking, etc. and feeling, whether rational or irrational, is only and can only be done by the intellect and free will of what is the human immaterial Soul; of which IS the intellect and free will to choose. This is proven by the fact that we human beings are the only animals that can think, etc. and feel abstractly, be the thoughts, etc. and feelings rational (organized) or irrational (disorganized).
First, if something is primarily caused by "genetic abnormalities in the brain physiology", such as with actual real Autism [Fragile X Syndrome, Tuberous Sclerosis, or Angelman’s Syndrome], other born chromosomal abnormalities, and/or types of observable deterioration of the brain physiology such as but not limited to the memory disease of Alzheimer’s, or physiological movement diseases such as Parkinson’s, or Lou Gehrig’s disease, then they are rightly not called Psychological Disorders; mental disturbance (aka “mental illnesses”).
The aforementioned chromosomal abnormalities or even brain tumors that can be observed in infants, are visibly organic medical conditions of "genetically biologically caused" "abnormalities in the brain physiology" alone, without any influence from the brain and bodies primary form and animator: i.e. the immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will to choose, because the person is born with them, while the latter group of brain deterioration diseases of memory or physical movement, also mentioned in the previous paragraph, has to be directly influenced by the lifelong psychological functioning of the immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will, but which has yet to be included and properly studied in any research on these subjects. Therefore, if Schizophrenia, which behaviors are objectively not exhibited until young adulthood (changing the behavioral criteria for the diagnosis and thereby moving the goal posts, would be irrational behavior by so called professional experts), were to be caused by "genetic abnormalities in the brain physiology", then Schizophrenia cannot be called a Psychological Disorder; mental disturbance (aka "mental illness"), because all forms of the words Psychological and Psychiatric originally and always will only be of the Psyche = immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will to choose, and therefore Schizophrenia would have to solely be believed, understood, and treated as a medical condition such as those with visible brain deterioration.
However, notice how the objector says it is "possible" "that genetic abnormalities in the brain physiology" "could" "adversely affect how different brain pathways connect to each other". The words "possible" and "could" do not mean "is true" and "do". Both of the objector's words are carefully conscientiously used to show that there are no existing scientific facts to support the objector's philosophical desire and belief that Schizophrenia is "genetically biologically caused" "abnormalities in the brain physiology". Therefore the objector has to agree that there are no existing observable scientific facts of a "genetic abnormality in the brain physiology" that can be the primary cause of a person to "think and feel in a "disorganized fashion"", which is psychological. Furthermore, to "think and feel in a "disorganized fashion"", occurs in all human beings to some degree, and only when in an extreme degree are they labeled as Schizophrenia. To date, there has never been a psychological, psychiatric, or neurological, etc. scientific research study on Schizophrenia that either includes or primarily focuses on the existence of the human immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will to choose, thereby making any and all results from biological research on the cause of any and all Psychological Disorders, including Schizophrenia, insufficient, inconclusive, and erroneous.
The "research suggests", "scientists have found", or "the studies show" describing anything biological regarding psychology and psychiatry, are subjective manipulative catch phrases that are used across research topics even when the research has no scientific facts to prove what the human beings are hoping to find. Unfortunately, this fact has not stopped either the general public or Psychologists, Psychiatrists, MDs or other medical professionals from choosing to believe and make the unfounded declaration that the label of Schizophrenia and all other Psychological Disorders ("mental disturbances"); aka "mental illnesses" are genetically biologically caused, without factual evidence to prove it. The label of Schizophrenia is and always has been assumed, in general, to be caused by the brain and genetics based on subjective correlations of circumstantial evidence subjectively observed through the perspective of philosophical errors in the understanding of the make-up of the human person, in order to try and support the erroneous philosophical beliefs. Philosophical errors which completely negate the existence of the immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will to choose in human beings and completely negate the existence of demonic spiritual influences on human beings freely chosen thinking, etc. and feeling, both directly and through other mediums, such as but not limited to the media.
Unfortunately, and unknowingly, the objector, a medical physician, and his entire field in general, including the psychiatric community (modern psychiatrists are nothing more than medical doctors specializing in drugs to affect the brain), were formally educated and trained to take the: domains, methods, conclusions, categories, and theories of the: science of Biology (Study of Physical Life), science of Neurology (Study of the Nervous System), and science of Medicine (Study of Medication) and apply them indiscriminately to the Science of Psychology (The study of the immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will to choose) and the Science of Psychiatry (The healing of the immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will to choose), while completely negating and ignoring The Study of the immaterial Soul as intellect (mind) and free will to choose, of which both Psychology and Psychiatry are only rightly, according to the Greek and the Latin. The renown Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen was one to expose this type of irrational; aka disorganized thinking and acting by the professional experts when he said,
"One cannot take the methods and conclusions of one science and apply them indiscriminately to another science. Each has its own method and is entitled to that method." “Every particular science has its own domain; its own method.” “And a good thinker will not allow the methods and the categories and the theories to overflow into other domains.”

Second, it is important to note that the objector is agreeing that the "genetic biologically caused" "brain" and its "pathways" and "connections" (i.e. the "computer word processor") is a "material secondary cause". This means that the statement, "The author, who is the primary cause", has to be referring to the immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will of the person, versus the "material instrument called the secondary cause", which again is only the "genetics", "brain", and it's "pathways".
However, the objector then proceeds to choose to make the "material instruments called the secondary cause" suddenly become the primary cause of what is "to think and feel in a disorganized [irrational] fashion". There is a major problem with this opinion (aka theory). For the known "material secondary cause" to suddenly become the primary cause of what is, "to think and feel in a disorganized fashion", one of two impossible things would need to happen for the "broken computer word processor"; i.e. the "genetic abnormalities" of "brain pathway" connections / "brain physiology" to "reorganize" aka cause/create abstract disorganized/irrational thoughts and their resulting abstract disorganized/irrational feelings (aka "to think and feel in a disorganized fashion"):
1) As the objector claims, "the author who is the primary cause" would originally begin with abstract organized/rational thoughts and feelings which then he "reorganizes" (i.e. changes/turns) into abstract disorganized/irrational thoughts and feelings by his "genetic abnormalities" of [damaged] "brain pathway" connections; aka "the material secondary cause". To be clear, this is the claim that in a person with Schizophrenia, the original abstract organized/rational thoughts and feelings exist, and are first 'programmed' (created/caused) by the immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will to choose; aka "the author, who is the primary cause" and then either immediately or within split seconds is "reorganized" (i.e. changed/turned) into abstract disorganized/irrational thought and feelings by the "material secondary causes".
This is completely impossible and therefore illogical (aka a degree of disorganized/irrational thinking), for at least three reasons:
1) a person has to have "genetic" 'normal' [healthy] "brain pathway" connections in order to 'program' (create/cause) any abstract organized/rational intellectual act, whether that be in: thought, belief, expectation, want/desire, like, dislike, attraction, emotion, feeling, word, or decision for an exterior deed. A person cannot have both their "genetic" 'normal' [healthy] "brain pathway" connections creating what is abstractly organized/rational either split seconds before or at the same time as the person has "abnormal" [damaged] "brain pathway" connections "reorganizing" the same abstract organized/rational thought(s), etc. and feeling(s) into disorganized/irrational thought(s), etc. and feeling(s).
[It is also a known fact among experts that the exact location of any particular abstract: thought, belief, expectation, want/desire, like, dislike, attraction, emotion, feeling, word, or decision for an exterior deed in the brain, cannot be pinpointed.]
2) As the objector rightly stated, it is a known observable objective fact that those labeled with Schizophrenia only "occasionally" "think and feel in a disorganized [irrational] fashion"; aka this behavior comes and goes, which means their "genetic" "brain pathway" connections have to be healthy frequently and could only be "genetically abnormal" "occasionally". If this were true, it would mean that if there were any "genetic abnormality in brain physiology", they would have to "come and go", which is impossible.
If in the case of Schizophrenia, the "brain physiology" "brain pathway" connections have a "genetic abnormality", one might think that due to the fact of the 'lesser hindering the greater' [the lesser brain hindering the greater intellect and free will of the immaterial Soul], the "material secondary cause" "brain physiology" with "genetic abnormalities" could "occasionally reorganize" "words and sentences such that" they "become disorganized [irrational] and impossible to read in a coherent fashion" by how "the brain physiology could adversely affect how different brain pathways connect to each other", making "such affected individuals" to "think and feel in a disorganized fashion". But three facts make this impossible:
1) No brain, primarily or alone, can create any disorganized/irrational intellectual act (which includes thoughts, etc. and emotions and feelings), all of which are abstract; only the immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will can do so, proven by the fact that 1) brute animals are neither rational nor irrational [in the modern English psychological use of the term], and 2) organized/rational thinking, etc. and feeling is of the same spiritual form as disorganized/irrational thinking, etc. and feeling, as they are both abstract intellectual chosen acts where one is simply the complete absence of the other; just as that which is particularly intellectually false is the absence of what is particularly intellectually true. In other words, what is disorganized is not converted from what is first organized; they are the absence of each other.
2) The type of observable "genetic abnormalities in the brain physiology", such as with actual real Autism [Fragile X Syndrome, Tuberous Sclerosis, and Angelman’s Syndrome] and other born chromosomal abnormalities with mental retardation such as but not limited to Down Syndrome, exist from onset with the person's intellectual level of functioning remaining constant. The person's ability to think doesn't suddenly change like it does with those labeled with Schizophrenia. Schizophrenic labeled interior intellectual and exterior physical behaviors come and go, just like with those who are demonically oppressed/obsessed or possessed.
If one is trying to compare the psychological disorder of Schizophrenia with the types of observable deterioration of brain physiology such as the memory disease of Alzheimer’s, or physiological movement diseases such as Parkinson’s or Lou Gehrig ’s disease, simply because people suffering from these diseases might "occasionally reorganize" "words and sentences such that" they "become disorganized [irrational] and "impossible to read" in a coherent fashion", all the responses to the objection presented here thus far and those to be presented further on, suffice for the reply to this, which in turn proves that even with these later in life physiological diseases of the brain, the person's abstract disorganized/irrational thinking, etc. and feeling is caused/chosen by the intellect (mind) and free will to choose of the immaterial Soul.
Let's say for the sake of argument, that the objector, after reading the responses to his objection, claims "Oh, I didn't mean "reorganize". I simply meant originate or create." This argument is just as impossible and therefore illogical because,
3) The objector would have to first prove in logical practical application, that all degrees of disorganized/irrational thinking and feeling,...including but not limited to: disorganized/irrational judgments and feelings; aka all abstract disorganized/irrational interior intellectual acts of: attractions, likes, dislikes, wants/desires, expectations, beliefs, thoughts, and their resulting abstract disorganized/irrational emotions and feelings, and all their resulting abstract disorganized/irrational exterior acts (words and deeds), [all of which all normal [non-chromosomal damaged] human beings have in varying manners and degrees, save one],...have absolutely nothing do to with; aka are not created/chosen/caused at all in any way, by the person's immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will to choose.
As already stated, this is absolutely impossible according to 1) what abstract intellectual thinking, etc. and feeling is in objective practical reality, 2) the fact that abstract thoughts, etc. and feelings, regardless of whether they are disorganized/irrational or organized/rational, are always of the same abstract intellectual spiritual form; one is simply the absence of the other, and 3) no brute animal, all of whom only have a brain, can produce anything abstract in interior intellectual acts, including abstract emotions and feelings, either disorganized/irrational or organized/rational.
All three points prove that both disorganized/irrational thoughts, etc. and feelings, and organized/rational thoughts, etc. and feelings...all of which are ABSTRACT, can only originate/be caused/created by the human immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will to choose as the primary form and animator of the brain while the human person is still physically alive on this planet, with any assumed or potentially existing brain pathway connection problems actually being the normal healthy visible sign and affect of any abstract disorganized/irrational: thought, belief, expectation, want/desire, like, dislike, attraction, emotion, feeling, word (which are typically followed by deeds) originated/caused/created by the immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will to choose. Thereby supporting that all human beings' brain "chemistry" is rightly "unbalanced", (if unbalanced at all) when we intellectually freely choose to: think, believe, expect, want/desire, like, or be attracted to and feel, anything that is objectively irrational; false; bad; wrong; dysfunctional; disorganized (aka unbalanced). All of which ARE/make up all Psychological Disorders.
Aside from all of these facts, those persons with actual observable "genetic abnormalities in brain physiology", be them chromosomal abnormalities, tumors, or late life diseases of aging brain deterioration, have never in the history of mankind to the present, had Schizophrenia at the same time. And if the academic and professional powers that are in control of the publishing media, the press media, the government legislation, and the educational system dare to move the goal posts and change the diagnostic criteria for Schizophrenia in order to start diagnosing (aka putting the psychological label) with Schizophrenia those with actual observable "genetic abnormalities in brain physiology", that will be nothing less than a disorganized/irrational act, on the part of those in power, in order to sell more psychotropic medications to increase their wealth. This has already recently begun with those who want to assign the label of Depression to a person with Down Syndrome.
As factually explained, the "material instrument called the secondary cause"; i.e. the genetics, the brain, and it's pathways and connections, cannot become a primary cause regarding any abstract intellectual, including emotional, act, be them disorganized/irrational or organized/rational, which are always and only caused by the immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will to choose, because our immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will to choose is always primary to the brain and rest of the body, as well as the form and animator of the brain and rest of the body, as declared by Dr. St. Thomas Aquinas and the Catholic Church (See the Summa, newadvent.org). This is why the immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will to choose is what Psychology and Psychiatry are rightly the study of, and nothing else, according to the Greek and the Latin.
Third, the objector states that he believes the brain is the primary cause of disorganized/irrational thinking simply because, "it is possible that genetic abnormalities in the brain physiology could adversely affect how different brain pathways connect to each other." This statement alone by itself is already a known existing fact in the studies of physiology, biology, and neurology, when observable factual evidence exists to prove it exists in the individual. This reason of the objector for his belief that the Psychological Disorder of "Schizophrenia is genetically biologically caused", [the study of Psychology being the study of the immaterial soul: intellect (mind) and free will to choose], proves that the objector is doing exactly what the Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen exposed when he said, "One cannot take the methods and conclusions of one science and apply them indiscriminately to another science. Each has its own method and is entitled to that method." “Every particular science has its own domain; its own method.” “And a good thinker will not allow the methods and the categories and the theories to overflow into other domains.”. This is another factual problem that impedes the objector's psychological disorganized/irrational want/desire to prove Schizophrenia is "genetically biologically caused".
Therefore the objector, a medical physician, is projecting his psychological want/desire on those labeled with Schizophrenia with no observable "genetic abnormalities in the brain physiology", in those individuals labeled with Schizophrenia, to prove it. To date, humans labeled with Schizophrenia while alive, do not have "genetic abnormalities in the brain physiology" and have not been factually scientifically observably proven to have any.
A study of dead human brains proves nothing psychologically for four additional reasons to what is already stated:
1) People don't die of Schizophrenia, they die of other causes while labeled with Schizophrenia and the cause of death will directly affect the brain at the time death if not also before, being that a person is proclaimed dead when they are brain dead.
2) In general, people labeled with Schizophrenia, unfortunately for some period of time, do some form of chemical coping (legal or illegal) that directly affects the brain with harmful effects on the brain and body.
3) When something is dead it immediately automatically begins to deteriorate / decay. It is no different with the brain.
4) When a person is dead, the person's immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will to choose is no longer present in order for all existing parts to be studied, and the person's Soul: intellect (mind) and free will to choose being now absent, means that the brain will be different from when the person was physically alive, because the immaterial Soul is the form and animator of the brain and body.
A study of brute animal brains claiming any psychological theories about a human person's brain is absolutely disorganized/irrational behavior, based in at least three major philosophical errors (i.e. a degree of disorganized/irrational thinking):
1) "The field of psychology and psychiatry are physiological sciences, rather than only philosophical sciences." (based on the following two major philosophical errors)
2) "The terms psychology and psychiatry are defined as the studies of the brain, and the healing of the brain respectively, rather than the study of the immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will to choose and healing of the immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will to choose, as is their real original definitions in the Greek and the Latin."
3) "Human person's do not have an immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will to choose that brute animals also do not have."
Fourth, it needs to be understood that people with Depression and Anxiety have disorganized/irrational thinking, etc. and feeling, (which are always abstract), because that is what Depression and Anxiety are, just as is with Schizophrenia. The primary difference between the psychological labels is in the degree and particular details of disorganized/irrationality. For example, people who feel Depressed want/desire to kill themselves even more frequently than those with Schizophrenia, and those with Schizophrenia want/desire to kill others more often than people with Depression. People who feel Anxiety are always afraid in some degree of almost everything intellectually conceived, which they will stuff with various material distractions, including covering up their fear with degrees of anger. While those labeled with Schizophrenia are typically only afraid of various external material objects, situations, and actions, but when they are, it is in the highest degree labeled paranoia.
Both groups, those with Anxiety and those with Schizophrenia believe that all of their fears are organized/rational/justified/realistic, which is NEVER the case. However those with Schizophrenia frequently have times of "lucidity"; aka organized/rational thinking, etc. and feeling, when they can recognize that what they thought was organized/rational (aka realistic) regarding what they thought, said, or did, was actually not. Those with Depression and Anxiety are unable to recognize that what they thought, said, or did was disorganized/irrational (aka unrealistic) (in a lesser degree than Schizophrenia) without properly cooperating with the extra help from God after they repent and seek the Truth from Him, or they choose to trust another person who tells them that their thinking, etc. and feeling was disorganized/irrational/unrealistic.
So what causes people to choose different degrees of disorganized/irrational thinking, etc. and feeling? It is always a combination of many factors, most of which can never be controlled for or known in detail in a research study, because the free will to choose, life, God, and demons cannot be restricted to or predicted in a lab, and one's self-report and memories are usually: faulty, biased, incomplete, and embellished or down played, in varying details and degrees, among other errors; corroborated by credible judges and lawyers.
The many factors that influence a person to choose to think, etc. and feel in a "disorganized [irrational] fashion" are, but not limited to:
1. A unique personality: i.e. the person hood immaterial Soul: intellect mind and free will to choose of each individual, which is completely unique; created by God, giving the person a unique, subjective, and biased filter through which they perceive everything.
2. One of many of the vast number of possibilities of different combinations of virtuous intellectual character strengths and talents given to each of us by God at conception.
3. An ever growing list,...some of which begin, on average around the age of four, long before the child reaches the completed age of full ability to use their abstract reasoning capabilities of their intellect (mind) and free will to choose,...of at least hundreds of thousands, (by the time one reaches late adolescence), of freely chosen abstract intellectual disorganized/irrational and organized/rational: attractions, likes, dislikes, wants/desires, expectations, beliefs, thoughts, emotions, and feelings...and all disorganized/irrational and organized/irrational exterior physical acts: words and deeds that we choose from them...All of which we both: learn from external spiritual and material situations/experiences, and proceed to use to perceive, judge, and interpret everything in our environment in every single moment.
4. Each individual's different moment by moment environmental experiences even if they are conjoined twins. Every moment environmental influences such as but not limited to:
-types, degrees and frequency of media interacted with directly or indirectly,
-types, degrees and frequency of bad and good behavioral experiences of verbalized and acted out: thoughts, beliefs, expectations, wants/desires, likes, dislikes, and attractions,...by the caregivers and other relatives, friends, peers, teachers, strangers, etc.,
-received and perceived types, degrees and frequency of abuse and/or neglect by the caregivers and other relatives, friends, peers, teachers, strangers, etc.,
-received and perceived types, degrees and frequency of love and respect by the caregivers and other relatives, friends, peers, teachers, strangers, etc,
-types, degrees and frequency of direct demonic influence through temptation and obsession,
-types, degrees and amount of material possessions, including money that the family and individual has,
-types, degrees and frequency of work experiences both alone and working with others,
-types, degrees and frequency of play experiences both alone and playing with others,
-how the individual learns and chooses to compare themselves to others based on: number of siblings, location in sibling order, responsibilities and relationships with siblings, and how siblings were directly treated in front of the individual by the caregivers and other relatives, friends, peers, teachers, strangers, etc.,
-types, degrees, and frequency of education received both formal and informal on both the material world and the spiritual world,
-types and degrees of material and social infrastructures in which the individual grew up,
-types, degrees, and frequency of freely chosen direct interaction with and obedience to God; Truth+Love+Virtues, and
-the individual's free will choices to: reject, accept, draw closer to, and/or distance themselves from any particular factor and its details, in but not limited to, this aforementioned list; choices which are cyclically influenced by all of the particular factors and their details in the aforementioned list.
All four categories of factors combined are what influence different people to choose different degrees of disorganized/irrational thinking, etc. and feeling, even within the same blood family, including twins; conjoined and otherwise. In general, human beings have both, times and varying degrees of: organized/rational thinking, believing, expecting, wanting/desiring, etc. and feeling and speaking and physical actions, and times of disorganized/irrational thinking, believing, expecting, wanting/desiring, etc. and feeling and speaking and physical actions in the same day...the primary and largest difference between most human beings and those labeled with Schizophrenia and other Psychological Disorders is the degree.
Therefore, again the question is, what is causing the extreme degree of disorganized/irrational thinking, etc. and feeling in those labeled with Schizophrenia? It is the same answer as to the question, What is causing the extreme degree of disorganized/irrational thinking, believing, expecting, wanting/desiring, etc., and feeling, and speaking and physical actions in those who: habitually lie, manipulate, cheat, slander, angrily yell, swear, etc? And it is the same answer as to the question, What is causing the extreme degree of disorganized/irrational thinking, believing, expecting, wanting/desiring, etc. and feeling, and speaking and physical actions in those who: abuse, murder, rape, steal, get high or drunk, masturbate, use pornography, binge eat, etc. The answer: It is called the immaterial intellectual free will to choose to do so.
Fifth, in order to fully know and understand the Truth about what causes Schizophrenic labeled interior intellectual behaviors and their resulting labeled exterior physical behaviors (aka "tendencies" / "symptoms"), it is important to know and understand through real definitions and examples what "extreme" abstract disorganized/irrational thinking really is as defined by the human powers that be within the American Psychological and Psychiatric Associations who decided the diagnostic criteria in someone who is labeled with Schizophrenia:
[And it is important to note that all disorganized/irrational feelings are caused solely by disorganized/irrational thinking, believing, expecting, wanting/desiring, liking, disliking, being attracted to, etc.]
The term "disorganized thinking" regarding Schizophrenia is defined as and consists of the following behaviors:
+losing train of thought during a conversation (which is also a normal non-labeled disorganized thinking behavior),
+tangenting by jumping from one topic to another randomly according to the listener (called "loose associations"); (which is also a normal non-labeled disorganized thinking behavior),
+giving answers to unrelated questions (which is also a normal non-labeled disorganized thinking behavior),
+speaking continuously while providing numerous irrelevant details; never getting to the point (called "circumstantial speech"); (which is also a normal non-labeled disorganized thinking behavior),
+and in the rare extreme case when the person is confused [normal signs of ignorance of Truth and/or demonic influence in human beings, in general] and stressed [normal sins of fear and/or worry in human beings in general] and the person's mind feels foggy or clouded [a part of severe demonic oppression / mild possession when not materially caused by an ingested substance or lack of sleep],...the person's arrangement of words, sentences, and their rhythms are stated in an order and a creative manner so that some of the sentences or groups of words may have no direct understandable meaning to the listener or reader [called "word salad", which is comparable to what poets and music lyric writers do; proving that it is an intellectually abstract concept and ability of the Soul: intellect (mind) and free will.]

An example of "word salad" is like when a child rhymes words in a silly and clever fashion to entertain themselves; words that they either have heard or think of. For example, an adult labeled with Schizophrenia after reading the internet social media hash tag "#BellLetsTalk" (Bell let's talk), then began writing, "Bellettuce" (Bell Lettuce), "beteljuice" (name of a demon fictional character from a famous movie and children's cartoon), and "bulletstalk" (Bullets Talk), etc. [It is not a coincidence that the latter two of the three are referencing an objective evil.] The only difference between this type of thinking from an average person not labeled with a psychological disorder verses someone labeled with Schizophrenia is that the person labeled with Schizophrenia believes that what he or she is thinking, saying or writing is very profound, deep, and important so that it will enlighten and benefit others in some way...all of which are abstract beliefs, be them disorganized/irrational. The level of vocabulary and sentence structure used is, in general, intellectually intelligent and abstract; showing that "disorganized thinking" is of the immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will. "Word Salad" is also called "Language Play" and can often involve disorganized/irrational imaginary thinking (aka "delusional") and a failure to choose self-control (aka "compulsiveness") and preoccupation (aka "obsession") with the meanings of words. For example, someone labeled with Schizophrenia can think and say the word "nonsensical" in perfect logical context of a conversation and then think of other words that either rhyme or are similar and say them out loud simply because they think them; like a play on words that begin with "non",..."nonsequiter, noncompliant, nondistructable", while these have nothing to do with the point of the sentence or conversation, but are interesting and entertaining to the person thinking and voicing them who has always chosen to have poor self-control and could care less about social mores and filtering what they say. This is just like when a young child chooses to entertain themselves and/or seek attention by doing a creative play-on-words or rhyming. The words are not uncontrollably "fluttering around in the person's head" at random against the person labeled with Schizophrenia's free will to choose, as those who blame their own feelings and sins on others would have you believe. Unless it is an actual demon communicating with the person, which can only be done telepathically and therefore the words or thoughts may then seem like they are "fluttering around in the person's head". [It is important to remember that those humans in control of the educational literature and other media for psychology, psychiatry, and the medical fields do NOT believe in the existence of our direct contact with spiritual beings with person hood: demons, angels, and God.]
Because "world salad" behavior can be and is frequently written down by the person, which animals cannot do and is an abstract behavioral capability, also supports that the brain does not cause disorganized thinking, etc. and feeling. In addition, "word salad" is also known to be expressed as a characteristic/behavior of those labeled with Narcissism, (which has zero correlation to Schizophrenia), which is said to be done maliciously either to confuse others, and/or avoid accountability and responsibility for their actions by pretending to answer a question and make sure to have the last word.
The difference between evil intentions of the labeled Narcissistic behaving person and supposed good intentions of the labeled Schizophrenic behaving person has been used to justify why the former is of the free will and the latter is not, which is a disorganized/irrational and illogical deduction of reasoning, because 1) good and bad intentions are the absence of each other; one is the absence of the other; they cannot exist at the same time in the same detail: manner and degree. Therefore they have to come from the same cause, and 2) both good and bad intentions (i.e. thoughts, beliefs, expectations, wants/desires, likes, dislikes and attractions), which are always abstract, as well as all abstract emotions and feelings both organized/rational and disorganized/irrational, can only come from the immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will, because brute animals cannot do any of them. If they were primarily created/caused by the brain, then brute animals could do them as well, which would make the intellectual interior behaviors and exterior physical behaviors of brute animals morally qualifyable, which they are not. As a result of these facts, this makes any possible chemical or chemistry so called "imbalances" with the brain, the secondary effects and normal visible signs, not the primary causes, of the disordered/irrational thinking, believing, expecting, wanting/desiring, liking, disliking, being attracted to, etc. and feeling of the immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will.
The following is an example of how disorganized/irrational thinking in general is a normal imperfect behavior of all human beings: Today I was talking with my best friend about how interesting it is that some plants are split into the two natural genders male and female, and how only the female gendered plant typically produces the fruit or berry as the case may be, for example with Papaya Trees and Holly Bushes. I then accidentally said, "Only one of the genders of papaya tree can produce mangoes." Which I immediately recognized as disorganized/irrational and as I began to laugh and verbally take ownership of this mistake, my friend who is trained in the medical field and who knows I'm working on the Schizophrenic objection to my book said while laughing, "You just had disorganized thinking!"
As already stated, the primary difference between the majority of those labeled with Schizophrenia and what I said by "accident", is that those labeled with Schizophrenia when in the temporary state of what is labeled "psychosis" (aka clouded intellect and complete intellectual detachment from their environment), cannot analyze, discern, and recognize, in that moment, that what they are saying is disorganized/irrational, while at the same time they believe what they are saying to be organized/rational, unlike when the average person does it either accidentally as I did, or on purpose as in creative writing, poems, or song lyrics. A person labeled with Schizophrenia failing to be able to analyze, discern, and recognize whether or not what they think, believe, expect, want/desire, like, dislike, are attracted to, feel, say, do, and fail to do is disorganized/irrational, is no different than any prideful ignorant human being who lacks self-awareness, and is failing to analyze, properly discern, and recognize how what they: think, believe, expect, want/desire, like, dislike, are attracted to, say, do, and fail to do is disorganized/irrational. Showing how failure to recognize irrationality in ones: attractions, likes, dislikes, wants/desires, expectations, beliefs, thoughts, emotions, feelings, words, and deeds is the normal sins of pride and willful ignorance. Welcome to almost every individual member of the human race, including mental health professionals, psychologists, psychiatrists, physicians, medical professionals, and researchers.
However, it is a fact that those with Schizophrenia who when at a later time while not in the temporary state of "psychosis" read over what they had written, or are told what they had said or did when in "psychosis", can usually immediately recognize that what they said or wrote or did was disorganized/irrational and still is disorganized/irrational, while they have not stopped being labeled with Schizophrenia (or Bipolar with Psychotic Features as the case may be). It is impossible for the brain and genetics to change quickly back and forth between healthy and damaged. So what is really going on? An immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will to choose CAN change quickly back and forth between what is organized/rational and what is disorganized/irrational, and all sinful human beings do so on a daily basis, with the majority doing so several times a day in varying degrees. [If one can't see this throughout humanity, then one is extremely self-absorbed with one's "head in the sand", or in a book, as the case may be.]
All human beings who are imperfect sinners are disorganized/irrational in a plethora of ways: manners and degrees of: thoughts, beliefs, expectations, wants/desires, likes, dislikes, attractions, emotions and feelings, words, and deeds/external actions. Schizophrenia is simply an extremely high degree of being disorganized/irrational. Again, in order to answer the question, why do some humans have higher degrees of disorganized/irrational behavioral: attractions, likes, dislikes, wants/desires, expectations, beliefs, thoughts, and the resulting emotions, and feelings, words, and deeds/external actions than others?, you first have to answer the question, why do some human beings choose to sin worse and more frequently than others? Only then will you have your answer. It is called our free will to choose. Just as the angels Lucifer and Michael made opposing choices. Just as Eve chose one way and Mary the mother of Jesus the Christ chose the other.
It is also very important to know the Truth that human beings never stay the same psychologically/spiritually/emotionally/morally...we are always gradually slowly becoming better/higher functioning (aka more organized/rational intellectually and externally behaviorally) or worse/lower functioning (aka disorganized/irrational intellectually and externally behaviorally). Making it no surprise that the behaviors labeled as Schizophrenia do not begin until young adulthood.
Sixth, if after all of this the reader is still in doubt, it better helps to understand the Truth about primary and secondary causes if we think about how the appropriate material instrument to assist the author in writing a novel is a ball point pen rather than a "computer word processor". Neither computer word processors nor pens write novels (an abstract intellectual ability), just as spoons don't make people fat, and guns don't load themselves with bullets and pull their own triggers. Therefore there are assumptive philosophical beliefs chosen and made by the objector that the brain (i.e. "computer word processor" or pen and ink) can be or becomes a primarily psychological cause (rather than only the secondary material cause) of the person (intellect and free will of the immaterial Soul) writing ("thinking and feeling") words and sentences that are disorganized/irrational (i.e. schizophrenic). To claim the ball point pen, or as in the objector's example the "computer word processor" as the primary cause is an assumptive philosophical belief that the objector has chosen to believe without the existence of objective scientific factual evidence to prove it. In psychology this is called "blaming", which is a type of disorganized/irrational thinking. Like those who blame the selling, owning, and existence of guns and bullets for killing people, rather than the free will of the human being to choose to have disorganized/irrational [aka evil; absence of good] intentions; aka reasons, load the bullets, and pull the trigger.
It is illogical for all of the psychological disorders except schizophrenia to be primarily caused by the immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will of the person and one still call schizophrenia a Psychological Disorder (Psychology is only correctly defined as the study of the Soul). Furthermore, it is impossible for schizophrenia to be biologically caused when no mammal except a human being can develop schizophrenia outside of being tortured by humans in a laboratory, as is common professional knowledge. Just as brute animals also do NOT feel rejected, loved, anxious, or depressed outside of a human being projecting their perspectives/beliefs/level of functioning onto the brute animal, whether the human being is a pet owner or a research scientist.
In reality, a computer word processor or better yet pen and ink don't create novels and are not needed for a novel to be created, but only for the novel to be physically produced in order to be read or listened to by another person, because a computer word processor and pen and ink cannot create any abstract: thought, belief, expectation, want/desire, like, dislike, attraction, or an abstract thought's, belief's, expectation's, want's/desire's resulting abstract emotions and feelings, be them organized/rational or disorganized/irrational. The computer word processor or pen and ink can only prevent a person's created abstract: thoughts, beliefs, expectations, wants/desires, likes, dislikes, attractions, and their resulting abstract emotions and feelings from being written down; i.e. expressed externally for others to read or hear.
In the same manner, when it comes to a human brain verses the human intellect (mind) and free will of the immaterial Soul, the brain cannot be the creator of an abstract: thought, belief, expectation, want/desire, like, dislike, attraction, or the abstract emotions and feelings that result from the abstract: thoughts, beliefs, expectations, wants/desires, likes, dislikes, and attractions, be them abstract organized/rational or disorganized/irrational. However, the brain can inhibit the immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will from using its ability to create/chose abstract: thoughts, beliefs, expectations, wants/desires, likes, dislikes, attractions, and their resulting abstract emotions and feelings at all BOTH organized/rational and disorganized/irrational (as with those born with severe Down Syndrome, severe brain tumors, and those who are severely mentally retarded) or inhibit them from being expressed through the mouth in speaking or the fingers in writing, as those who suffer from a Stroke. For as Dr. St. Thomas Aquinas states, "the lesser can hinder the greater".
Where is the scientific factual evidence that our brain is not the creator of abstract: thoughts, beliefs, expectations, wants/desires, attractions, likes, dislikes, and their resulting assortment of abstract emotions and feelings? Again, it is a scientific fact that brute animals cannot create/choose to have abstract organized/rational or disorganized/irrational thoughts, beliefs, expectations, wants/desires, attractions, likes, dislikes, or their resulting assortment of abstract emotions and feelings, which is proven by the fact that they cannot think abstractly or reason at all (which any credible animal trainer and credible biologist will tell you). For one to think and feel in a disorganized/irrational fashion (which is only an abstract capability) (the term "irrational" being used here in the psychological sense of modern American English; not as Dr. St. Thomas Aquinas used it), one has to first be able to be think and feel in an organized/rational fashion, both of which are abstract capabilities.
For some, it may be more easily understood if explained Socratically:
1. Where do all abstract organized/rational thoughts, beliefs, wants/desires, likes, dislikes, attractions, and their resulting emotions and feelings always originate in human beings?
Answer: the intellect (mind) and free will to choose.
2. Are the intellect (mind) and free will to choose material powers of the brain or immaterial powers of the Soul?
Answer: According to Dr. St. Thomas Aquinas Doctor of the Catholic Church, and others, the intellect (mind) and free will to choose are only immaterial powers of the Soul.
3. Is the immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will to choose always primary or secondary to the brain according to Aquinas and the Catholic Church?
Answer: Always Primary.
4. Is the immaterial Soul: intellect (mind) and free will to choose always the form and animator of the brain, or can the brain be the form or animator of the intellect (mind) and free will to choose of the immaterial Soul?
Answer: The immaterial Soul is always the form and animator of the brain. The brain can never be the form or animator of the intellect (mind) and free will to choose.
5. Can the brain take an abstract organized/rational thought or emotion of which can only originate/come from the intellect (mind) and free will of the immaterial Soul, and make it/distort it/convert it/change it (in words or sentences) into an abstract disorganized/irrational thought or emotion without the intellect (mind) and free will to choose of the immaterial Soul originating/creating/choosing the abstract disorganized/ irrational thought or emotion?
Answer: No it cannot, because anything intellectually abstract be it disorganized/irrational or organized/rational cannot be produced or reproduced by anything material/physiological, proven by the fact that brute animals cannot do them.
